Professional skills

Having worked in various roles as a professional writer for over 15 years , I’ve been lucky enough to try my hand at a wide variety of writing styles and vehicles. I have also had the opportunity to learn and master a number of non-writing technical skills.

For example, aside from being skilled at using all the applications in Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel), I have also spent time mastering web applications, social media software, intranet content management systems and blogging platforms such as WordPress.

I’m an excellent communicator with superior interpersonal skills, and pride myself on my ability to seek out unique solutions to complex problems. As a social person, I enjoy working as part of a larger team, but also enjoy putting my head down and facing a challenge alone.

Past work experience

Some of my recent professional positions include:

I produced and implement communications plans for all global communications in support of Manulife's global strategy, global crisis communications and their philantrhopic and sponsorship efforts.  I worked closely with the creative design teams (Brand Management), media relations and the corporate strategy teams.  This broad level of enterprise exposure also lead to my management of key writing and communications projects in building the annual report and supporting the annual general meeting.

BMOVarious communications and marketing roles at BMO Bank of Montreal

As the primary point of contact between a new media startup and its clients and prospective clients, I was responsible for all marketing and web copy as well as product demonstrations, training materials and sessions, end-user documentation and user acceptance testing.
